Ah, Samit!

I, on principle, am a regular Indi chick. Never one to spontaneously take off to Goa, never one to sign up for aerobics classes (which explains my figure)... However, every once in a while, there comes a man like no other. He is usually fictitious, more's the pity. This time he isn't.

By my "Ah, Samit!" title, one may surmise that the hitherto unknown name is Samit. His surname is Basu. He's the one who's been keeping me up nearly all night. Ahem, what i mean is that he writes books (don't speculate so much, sheesh!).

I just finished The Unwaba Revelations. It's his final book in the Game World trilogy, which makes it Book number 3. I got the first copy on the streets of 4th block and it was a two-in-one combo. Wasn't thrilled with the very first chapter in The Simoquin Prophecies (Maria reserves all rights to whimsical writing) but the pace picked up nicely by Chapter 4. Did i mention i love Samit Basu's writing? I cannot figure out if it is deliberate humour in his words. I chortled and snorted (much to my co-passengers' consternation and my friends' embarassment on the Shatabdi) when the Edicts for building a Dark Tower came up. This bit was in his second book called The Manticore's Secret.

Edict 1: A Dark Tower must be Dark.

Edict 2: A Dark Tower must Tower.

Here, the newly anointed Dark Lord Kirin (yeah, dude isn't much into nomenclature) is having his Dark Tower built and this was what guided its architecture. He's a half Ravian- half Rakshas male who lived in Kol, the Big Mango, for a few years and eventually found out that he was a stone statue for about 200 years before that. Interesting, most interesting...

Anyway, it's 7:20 am local time and i must shuck my buns to make it to dear ol' B R Amc on time. Peace out!

I somehow have this mental block that all Indian novels are bilge. It isn't entirely my fault- anyone whose first novel was 'The Calcutta Chromosome' will voice the same views.

But yes, I will give Samit Basu a try when I get the chance.
